At a time of growing geopolitical tensions and regional conflict, the risk of nuclear weapons being used is the highest it has been since the Cold War. Yet some governments are investing more in their nuclear arsenals and giving nuclear weapons a greater role in their security policies.
But another path is possible.
Around the world, governments, civil society organisations, communities affected by the use and “testing” of nuclear weapons, and international institutions are working together to build a future free from nuclear weapons – guided by the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), which entered into force in 2021.
Ahead of the TPNW’s first Review Conference, the Nuclear Ban Forum: Review Conference Edition will bring this growing movement together for a full day of conversation, learning and action.
Whether you have been working on nuclear disarmament for years or are simply curious about how we can change the current trajectory, you are warmly invited to join us. The Forum will bring together ICAN partners, allies and newcomers committed to eliminating nuclear weapons – and to advancing justice for the people and communities affected by their use and testing.
The programme is still taking shape, but the day will feature a lively combination of interactive workshops, inspiring speakers and informative panel discussions, with plenty of opportunities to meet, exchange ideas and connect with others from across the movement.
The Forum will take place at the historic Riverside Church in New York City. Doors open at 9:00 am, and the programme will begin at 9:30 am and conclude by 5:00 pm.
