UN Premiere of Artists Against the Bomb November 27, 2023 at 6:00pm - 7pm Eastern Time (US & Canada) Corridor 1B UN Headquarters - 405 E 45th St New York, NY 10017 United States Contact person: Susi Snyder

ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB is a collection of urgent messages calling for universal nuclear disarmament. The exhibition  is an international effort by artists, writers and activists who, through words and pictures, call for a reduction of the world’s nuclear weapons down to zero. We chose the zero as a graphic, visual and conceptual element common to all languages, to convey a symbol of global unity for a single non-controversial cause: preventing the destruction of all life on earth. Zero appears in some of the works, and is part of the overall conceptualisation of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be in UN Corridor 1B for the duration of the Second Meeting of States Parties, and will be opened with a reception featuring remarks from:

Ambassador Alexander Kmentt (Austria)
Honourable Melissa Parke (ICAN) &
Pedro Reyes, Artist

On Monday, 27 November at 18:00.

The exhibition comprises a series of black and white poster-sized images, designed to stimulate the viewer’s thoughts about nuclear weapons and the world which we seek to protect. Art, activism and the courage of country cooperation brought about the treaties, resolutions and initiatives which have prevented nuclear war thus far. This exhibition is designed to rekindle that cooperative spirit, and reinvigorate the movement for the end of nuclear weapons. This is the first time a selection of these images are shown in the United Nations, and the full exhibition will be running at Judd Foundation in Manhattan's Soho area.
