Internationally-known activists will join PeaceWorks-Kansas City board members Kristin Scheer and Ann Suellentrop to discuss this historic Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), which activists believe is the beginning of the end of nuclear weapons. Ray Acheson is the director of the Reaching Critical Will project of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and a member of the International Steering Group for ICAN, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.  Dr. Timmon Wallis is the author of “Warheads to Windmills”. at NuclearBan.us.

Learn how this unique treaty will affect the U.S., including Kansas City’s nuclear weapons parts plant. This Treaty will have an enormous influence on the 36 multinational corporations that make nuclear weapons. This is the first nuclear weapons treaty to reference harms to Indigenous people and advocate for the participation of women in nuclear disarmament. It also has positive obligations to victims of nuclear weapons manufacture and use. It mandates environmental remediation of affected environments.
