Demonstration/ Celebration/ Gathering January 22, 2021 at 11:00am - 1pm Mountain Time (US & Canada) Eubank Blvd SE & Southern Blvd SE Albuquerque, NM, NM 87123 United States Contact person: the Nuclear Issues Study Group

As of January 22nd, nuclear weapons are officially illegal according to international law. Come celebrate this win with us and also protest the fact that New Mexico continues to produce weapons of mass death & destruction. We will be doing a bit of both this Friday, January 22nd to honor the entry into force of U.N. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Join us not only to enjoy this monumental win in solidarity with folks around the globe, but to also make clear that the only aspects of the nuclear legacy that should be celebrated are the hard-fought efforts to end it.

We will be meeting on the corner of Southern Blvd and Eubank Blvd in front of Albuquerque’s National Museum of Nuclear Science and History at 11am-1pm. Be sure to remember your posters, hats, and MASKS if joining in person to celebrate (six feet apart from each other)**. If you aren’t able to show up in person, please post any at-home festivities (or other locations in the city) to this event page using the hashtag #nuclearban, which people from around the globe will be using to mark this historic day!

**(We will have a second location for the party to spread [so that COVID doesn’t] if the celebration gets too big). Please use the shopping center parking lot on the opposite corner of Southern and Eubank- do not park in the museum's parking lot.

The TPNW was first opened for signature in New York on September 20, 2017 and as of December 2020, there are 86 signatories!
