Cambridge Vigil to Proclaim the Nuclear Ban Treaty January 22, 2021 at 12:00pm - 2pm Eastern Time (US & Canada) | entry-force | 200 Alewife Brook Pkwy Cambridge, MA 02138 United States Contact person: Susan Mirsky
The world has spoken! Today the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons enters into force, opening a new chapter in the movement to abolish nuclear weapons.
Join us in Cambridge, and in cities and towns across Massachusetts and around the world to celebrate this auspicious day.
Every year, Massachusetts taxpayers pay over $700 million for weapons that, if launched, could end human civilization in seconds. Over the years, these accumulated billions would have better been spent on housing, education and the kind of robust public health programs critically important for pandemic preparedness and response. Here are some other ideas of what those tax dollars could have paid for instead.
We will assemble at 11:45 in the Whole Foods Parking lot (200 Alewife Brook Pkwy) with a large banner. Some signs available. Weather permitting, including extreme cold. Please consult our event page the morning of the event for updates. Masks and social distancing required.
We now gather to call upon the US to join the Nuclear Ban Treaty. Come join us!
