International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness March 05, 2026 at 1:15pm - 2:30pm Eastern Time (US & Canada) United Nations Headquarters, Conference room 12 405 E 45th St New York, NY 10017 United States

The International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness seeks to promote greater public understanding of disarmament issues, particularly among young people. Observed annually on 5 March, it highlights the vital role disarmament plays in advancing peace and security, preventing and ending armed conflict, and reducing human suffering caused by weapons.

Through resolution A/RES/77/51, the UN General Assembly invites Member States, the United Nations system, civil society, academia, media, and individuals to mark the Day through educational and public awareness-raising activities.

The event will bring together Member States, UN entities, civil society, and experts to exchange perspectives, share best practices, and identify practical steps to strengthen cooperation and advance awareness.
