Contribute to the most inclusive UN meeting ever
The UN treaty banning nuclear weapons (TPNW) is unique for the major role that civil society, including impacted communities played in shaping it. The treaty's first meeting of states parties in Vienna in March 2022 will be a huge milestone for our efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons AND a chance to show the UN system and the world what an inclusive and modern multilateral process looks like. And you will be invited!
But to do this during a pandemic, we need your help.
ICAN needs to raise $40’000 before the end of the year to put the software, equipment and people in place to bring the world to Vienna, and the meetings in Vienna to you, no matter what the pandemic throws at us. Will you pitch in to make it happen?

What are we planning?
As the civil society coordinators for the meeting, we will use these funds to make sure the opportunities to participate go way beyond the usual Zoom call or livestream. We want to find unique ways for people around the world to participate in both ICAN events and the UN conference on the TPNW, such as:
- Daily live updates from Vienna keeping you up to date on what is going on at all the events in this nuclear disarmament themed week!
- Opportunities to not only follow the government conference but engage and contribute to it from home.
- Hybrid events from all over the world that merge high-level video and audio with interactive features to allow you to really engage with the high-level guests and sessions we have lined up.
Of course, if it's possible, we want to make sure that a broad range of voices can get into the room. But no matter what, we will make sure you know what's going on in Vienna, and that your voices are heard there were decisions are made.
What is ICAN?
The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) is a global movement of 620 civil society organisations in 106 countries comprised of hundreds of thousands of individuals who campaign to make nuclear weapons illegal under international law. Learn more about our impact here.
