Peace Boat is holding a public commemorative event in Tokyo on January 22, in partnership with the Japan Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, to discuss the significance of the TPNW and the roles of governments and civil society towards the Review Conferences of the NPT and the TPNW in 2026.

Speakers will include Terumi Tanaka Co-Chair of Nihon Hidankyo among other hibakushas, youth activists and experts. Video messages will include Melissa Parke Executive Director of ICAN, Setsuko Thurlow Hiroshima Hibakusha, Elayne Whyte President of the United Nations Conference to negotiate a legally binding instrument to prohibit nuclear weapons, leading towards their total elimination and more.
