ICAN, in cooperation with the Hiroshima Prefecture, is excited to announce that the Hiroshima-ICAN Academy will be back in 2020! The Academy is an intensive program designed to teach young professionals, students and activists everything they need to know to become the next generation of advocates for an end to nuclear weapons. You can check out some of the highlights from 2019 here.
Naturally, due to the global spread of COVID-19 and the associated restrictions on travel and gatherings, this year's Academy will be a bit different. It will be composed of two parts: part 1 (July 13 to August 6) is to be an online learning course and webinars, and Part 2 (dates are yet to be confirmed) an in-person training program to take place in Hiroshima City. In principle, participants are strongly requested to complete both Parts.
On August 6, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, we will have the final webinar of Part 1 to follow the live streaming of Peace Memorial Ceremony.
- Application deadline: 5pm on Friday, June 26, 2020 (JPT)
- Dates of Part 1 (online): Monday, July 13 to Thursday, August 6, 2020
- Dates of Part 2 (in Hiroshima): TBA
- Participants: Approximately 30 students and young professionals (25
years old or younger)
