On January 22, we will write world history when the UN Convention on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons enters into force. It's something to celebrate!
We welcome you to our digital party with speeches, greetings, and a toast. —— Achieving this goal is the result of hard work over many years, not least from civil society. Thousands of people have organized themselves around the world to, along with some states, do what many told us was impossible - to ban nuclear weapons.
We did not listen to those who said we were naive. We focused on the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world and continued to work. Suddenly, in 2017, we stood at the UN in New York and negotiated the treaty. A few months later, we were awarded the ICAN Nobel Peace Prize for our work. Now, three years later, we have reached the next milestone when the TPNW comes into force and becomes international law.
Even if Sweden has not signed the ban and for the first time stands outside a disarmament agreement when it enters into force, we will celebrate. And we want to do that with YOU! Without all the work of activists in Sweden and around the world, nuclear weapons would never have been banned.
A warm welcome to the party! Date: 22/1 Time: 16-17 Location: Zoom Registration to get a zoom link: https://forms.gle/5CEAt6URr25MvbbVA
