Hosted by: Peninsula/Palo Alto WILPF

We have moved our usual Friday peaceful sidewalk vigil for just this week, at the Palo Alto corner of El Camino & Embarcadero (outside Town & Country Village shopping center, and across from Palo Alto high school) to Sat. Jan. 22nd to celebrate the first anniversary of the "entry into force" of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. We're changing the date so that folks can go to the Jan. 21st vigil at Livermore Lab (https://trivalleycares.org/new/events.html#JanNW).

We will have a banner to "End the Nuclear Era," signs to share, and will have signs with a QR code to sign a WILPF U.S. petition supporting the treaty. You can also bring your own sign to abolish nuclear weapons. We welcome all peaceful people to stand together at our silent vigil (no singing/chants) in witness with other activists and members of the Peninsula/Palo Alto branch of the Women's Intl. League for Peace & Freedom (of course, men are welcome!).

WILPF was founded in 1915 at the Hague, Netherlands and our branch was established in 1922. We have organized these vigils, and have - with other peace & justice groups - met at this corner for decades. More info at [email protected]. We'll resume our regular Friday noon vigils on Jan. 28, to focus on protecting U.S. voting rights.
