A PLEA TO CONVINCE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY TO OBEY INTERNATIONAL LAW
On January 22, 2021: The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons [TPNW] will enter into force. To celebrate this moment, Prevent Nuclear War/Maryland will engage in a Day of Action.
There will be a car caravan starting to gather at 11:30 AM at the bottom of Wyman Park on 29th Street in Baltimore. At noon, the car caravan will drive around Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus as well as into other neighborhoods announcing this historic moment.
A vigil will gather from noon to 2 PM by the Johns Hopkins University sign at 34th and North Charles, Baltimore. The main banner will be there announcing nuclear weapons are illegal. After the caravan participants complete their travels, those participants will join the vigil. Then a group will march over to the building where President Ron Daniels has an office. The UN Treaty will be taped on the building door. The vigil, portions of the car caravan and the visit to the president's office will be live streamed. The event will conclude at 2 PM.
