Experiences from the Pacific April 28, 2026 at 1:15pm - 2:45pm Eastern Time (US & Canada) Conference Room C 405 E 45th St New York, NY 10017 United States

Panel discussion about the Humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons use and risk concerns of non-nuclear weapons states, focus on the experience of Pacific Islands states having suffered from nuclear testing.

Nuclear testing by nuclear-armed states has left a deep and enduring legacy of health, environmental and socio-economic harm across the Pacific, with many communities still living with contamination, displacement and inter-generational impacts. Pacific island states have transformed this experience into powerful leadership for nuclear disarmament, championing regional nuclear-weapon-free zones and playing a driving role in the negotiation and implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. This initiative seeks to build on that leadership by amplifying Pacific voices, consolidating evidence of ongoing impacts, and advancing concrete measures on victim assistance, environmental remediation and nuclear justice at national, regional and multilateral levels.

Organized by Austria, Kiribati, Tonga, Timor-Leste, and ICAN
