Erlend Haugen is ICAN’s Digital Communications Coordinator. A Norwegian journalist and visual storyteller, he has more than 30 years’ experience across newsrooms, public service and campaigning.
He began his career at a local newspaper in Norway before working for the Ministry of Defence and later joining Se og Hør, at the time Scandinavia's biggest weekly, where he became chief of staff in the crime and investigations newsroom.
After moving to France, he founded his own agency, combining journalism, photography, film and digital strategy for a wide range of clients and serving as a correspondent in southern Europe for several Scandinavian newspapers.
His work has taken him to Africa and Asia on campaigns with UNICEF, and into the world of extreme sports as lead photographer with the Nuit de la Glisse team.
Alongside international projects, he has developed communication campaigns for local French clients in sectors such as real estate, construction and public services.
Having grown up in Norway at the end of the Cold War, with the nuclear threat always in the background, He is strongly motivated to work for a world free of nuclear weapons and is committed to putting his heart into ICAN’s mission.
