Slovakia

Slovakia is a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has signed and ratified the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), being one of the 44 listed countries needed to sign and ratify for the CTBT to enter into force.

Slovakia has six nuclear power plants at Jaslovske Bohunice and Mochovce. Bohunice has four operating nuclear reactors and Mochovce has two. The two oldest reactors at Bohunice, called V-1, are of the VVER 440-230 design and under the Accession partnership agreement are due to be closed between 2006-8.
