Following Kyrgyzstan’s signature of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in September 2025, this event will address the complementarity of global and regional disarmament treaties and discuss how the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) strengthens the Central Asian Nuclear Weapon Free Zone (CANWFZ) and how they jointly strengthen the international disarmament framework by demonstrating tangible, legally binding progress in one of the world’s most strategically sensitive regions.
