Liturgy of Memory and Repentance for Hiroshima, Nagasaki & 75 years of the Nuclear Age August 08, 2020 at 6:00pm - 7:30pm Pacific Time (US & Canada) Sacred Heart Catholic Church Watch the livestream - https://paxchristinorcalorg/liturgy-memory-repentance 4025 Martin Luther King Jr Way Oakland, CA 94609 United States Contact person: Pax Christi Northern California

The US bishops have called for Catholics, and all those of goodwill, to come together in solidarity in our personal prayers and Masses on the solemn anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. Please join Pax Christi Northern California for a vigil Mass celebrated by Fr. Jack Lau, OMI. After the Eucharist, we will observe a moment of universal silence and bell-ringing at 7:02 p.m. Pacific Time (the exact time in Japan when the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki).

The liturgy will conclude with the testimony of one atomic bomb survivor, Takashi Tanemori, author of Hiroshima: Bridge to Forgiveness, and a time for interfaith/ecumenical reflection. Our second annual liturgy of memory and repentance will be recorded at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakland, and participants around the world are invited to watch the livestream at https://paxchristinorcal.org/liturgy-memory-repentance.
