Hawa Abdulrahman


Administration and Events Officer


Hawa is currently serving the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons in the position of Administration and Events Officer since September 2018. Prior to that, she worked on issues of human rights at an international level both at the Geneva Institute for Human Rights and at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights where she was involved in significant research, analysis and reporting of human rights issues of states.

She has experience implementing donor projects such as Countering Violent Extremism in schools, where she worked for SOWED Kenya and was involved in the initiation, planning, execution and closure of the pilot project as well as the implementation of a government to government funded project for the Mathare Special Training Center in Nairobi involving the reconstruction of a public school for special needs where she served as a project assistant carrying out due diligence, research on market prices and reporting among others. She also has project management experience where she managed the construction of a residential home from the costs, schedule, quality, and timely completion.

Hawa holds a PRINCE2® Foundation certificate in Project Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice and a certificate in Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster from the Harvard University, a diploma in Development Studies and Social Work from the Marist International University college a constituent college of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the African Nazarene University and she is currently working towards the end of her Masters of Arts Degree in International Relations from the Nottingham Trent University.
