The summit will take place 25 - 27 April in Hiroshima. 50 young people, mostly from G7 countries will attend to advance efforts for a world without nuclear weapons. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet with survivors, visit Hiroshima, and connect with others in advance of the G7 summit. This ICAN summit is hosted and co-organised by The Center for Peace, Hiroshima University.

About the Event

The Youth Summit programme will include first-hand accounts of nuclear weapons survivors and the knowledge of renowned physicists, legal experts, political scientists, sociologists and economists.  Participants will have an invaluable opportunity to visit the A-bombed remains and peace museum unique to Hiroshima, as well as build relationships with one another. 

What is the programme?

The summit programme will include first-hand accounts of nuclear weapons survivors and the knowledge of renowned physicists, legal experts, political scientists, sociologists and economists.

Participants will benefit from visits to the Hiroshima Peace Museum, the opportunity to meet survivors of the atomic bombing, and cultural activities. The summit programme will also include an educational session on the reality of the atomic bombings and a chance to better understand the challenges and opportunities presented by the nuclear threat today. Summit participants will engage in exchanges with Hiroshima University students and will hold a public event. They will announce the recommendations they’ve developed together for G7 leaders.

English will be the working language of the summit.
