As 22 January 2022 nears, American peace organizations are collaborating to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the ratification and entry into force of the U. N. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). The treaty, ratified by 59 nations, unequivocally prohibits all nuclear weapons-associated activities by the ratifying nations, including the possession of nuclear weapons, and the engagement in nuclear weapons-related research and testing, for all time.

Members of our collaborating groups will hand-deliver colorful certificates of appreciation “for moral and exemplary leadership” to the Washington DC embassies of the nations which have already ratified the TPNW, and we also plan to present each embassy with a single rose as a further token of our gratitude. Dozens of N95-masked volunteers will be gathering with UN flags and nuclear disarmament banners at 10 am at Robert Emmet Park before forming teams to make the deliveries to the embassies.
