Donate to ICAN and help us campaign for nuclear disarmament
You can help end nuclear weapons. ICAN is the global campaign rallying the opposition to these inhumane, immoral, and now illegal weapons of mass destruction, behind the UN Treaty that bans them. Your donation helps power our global movement.
Why is nuclear disarmament so vital?
The risk of nuclear weapons use is the highest it has been in decades. The nuclear threats and other reckless behaviour from nuclear-armed states are elevating the risk that conflict escalates into a global catastrophe. But it does not have to be this way. On 22 January, 2021, the first ever comprehensive ban on nuclear weapons entered into force: the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Now, we need to get every country on board.
ICAN partners around the world have been crucial to driving the TPNW’s success from the very start. Since 2007, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) has been organising, strategising, and campaigning to rid the world of nuclear weapons once and for all. ICAN is a global movement of over 700 civil society organisations in 111 countries comprised of hundreds of thousands of individuals who campaign to make nuclear weapons illegal under international law. In 2017, we won the Nobel Peace Prize for our role in achieving the adoption of the TPNW. Ever since, ICAN campaigners all around the world have been working non-stop to get enough countries on board for the treaty to enter into force. On 24 October 2020, we hit that 50-state party milestone.
Together, we made the nuclear weapons illegal under international law. Now, we need to keep pushing until we eliminate them for good.
What will we do with your money?
ICAN campaigners all around the world are mobilising to end the nuclear threat for good at all levels. We work around the clock to get states on board the treaty, convince cities and politicians to take action, and help everyone speak out against nuclear weapons and condemn nuclear threats. We provide facts and resources to challenge and change the narrative around nuclear deterrence and try to rally strong public support for the total elimination of nuclear weapons.
Changing norms, laws and public opinion is a marathon, not a sprint. Recurring donations are so useful for us as they give us a predictable income that allows us to initiate longer-term projects and allow us to build consistently over the year. A monthly gift provides the stability and independence ICAN needs to continue changing norms, laws and public opinion. Will you be one of the people who strengthen our work?
Together, we made the ban on nuclear weapons a reality. Now we need to double down and
make sure the treaty creates a strong, impactful norm. Will you stand with us?
