Live event  Friday, August 6 at the public sidewalk outside Town & Country shopping center in Palo Alto CA. Noon to 2pm. Join WILPF members and other community activists to commemorate the 76th anniversaries of the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We will be displaying some of the 2080 paper peace cranes from our art installation outside Art Ventures Gallery in Menlo Park, CA for the month of August of last year (see a short video of the installation at https://vimeo.com/452923974)

All peaceful people are welcome to join us to carry our signs or banner to end the nuclear era by honoring the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear weapons and U.S. Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton's "companion" bill, offered for many years to abolish nuclear weapons and establish a peace economy to " move the money" from military budgets to human needs.  Participants are also welcome to bring their own signs for nuclear disarmament and can select a few of the paper peace cranes in baskets at the demonstration (from peace activists in Ehime, Japan, and made for last year's commemoration by local community volunteers) after signing petitions supporting the Treaty and Norton's bill.
