ICAN New Clear Exchange Workshops
ICAN’s New Clear Exchange workshops have taken place in Melbourne and Perth, with more workshops taking place in Adelaide and Sydney in the coming week. The feedback on the workshops so far has been very positive, with lots of constructive feedback, energy and ideas generated. 

Mayors for Peace

ICAN is working in partnership with ACF to build capacity of Mayors for Peace in Australia in working toward nuclear abolition. There are currently 56 Australian councils involved – if your Council is not listed, get on to them to join!

Now We Can! ICAN working toward NWC in New York

ICAN has joined with several other international partners working on the ground in New York in the lead up to the Nuclear non-Proliferation Convention (NPC) Review Conference in May 2010. ICAN’s Tim Wright will coordinate civil society groups advocating for a NPT, he can be contacted at tim@icanw.org

Opposed to Nukes? Broadcast your views to the UN

We invite you to make a short video explaining why you want a nuclear-weapon-free world, and how to get there. The best videos will be shown at the United Nations this May as part of the Non-Proliferation Treaty Review conference. The selected videos will then be posted on youtube for the world to see.

Nukes News

Doomsday clock move encouraging on climate and nukes

ICAN is encouraged by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ decision to move the ‘Doomsday Clock’ from 5 to 6 minutes to midnight, but there is still much to be done to halt climate change and abolish nuclear weapons.

We won't be going nuclear: Rudd

KEVIN Rudd has again ruled out a civil nuclear power industry in Australia despite Barak Obama paving the way for more nuclear reactors in the US.

NT could get nuclear dump next week

The Australian Conservation Foundation says it expects the Federal Government to announce as early as next week that a nuclear waste dump will be built in the Northern Territory.

Obama steps up nuclear investment

The Obama administration has issued loan guarantees to pave the way for the first new nuclear power plant to be built in the United States for almost 30 years.
