ICAN at 2008 Youth Action Conference
ICAN badges and stickers proved popular when ICAN volunteers ran workshops and a stall for 350 students at the 2008 the Youth Action Conference held in Melbourne.
Students from various schools and ranging from Grade 5 to Year 8 were given an overview of the campaign and were asked what they already knew about nuclear weapons. Mock UN debates were held, along with banner painting and letter writing ideas. (Teachers got a lot out of it, too).

"Dear Government,
We are from Brighton Primary school, aged 11-12. We are strongly against NUCLEAR WEAPONS! Did you know that there are enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world and if we drop enough, all the smoke will rise up into the sky could block the sun and makes plants and food stop growing! Is it worth it?"
