NZ: Malcolm Fraser on eliminating nuclear weapons

Speaking at the National Consultative Committee on Disarmament Conference in Wellington, New Zealand, former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, stipulated: "The most effective, expeditious and practical way to achieve and sustain the abolition of nuclear weapons is to negotiate a comprehensive, irreversible, binding, verifiable treaty - a Nuclear Weapons Convention."

"There has never been a better time to achieve total nuclear disarmament; this is necessary, feasible and urgent. We are at the crossroads of a crisis involving these worst weapons of terror, presenting both danger and opportunity."

- Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, 24 May 2009.
