More than 100 campaigners from 30 countries took part in an ICAN campaign meeting in Hiroshima on 21 August 2012. Participants focused on the need to reframe the nuclear disarmament debate in humanitarian terms, and developed practical ideas for generating a groundswell of public support – globally, regionally and in Japan – for a treaty banning nuclear weapons.
