ICAN argues to reject Russia deal. The Joint Standing Committee on Treaties has received 18 submissions about the proposed nuclear sharing deal between Australia and Russia . All but 2 industry and 2 government submissions expressed concerns, including about nuclear safety, environmental concerns, proliferation risks, worker and human rights. Read all submissions. We need ongoing pressure on the Government to reject this deal - act today to express your concerns.
ICAN argues to reject US: India deal. Australia is both a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA) Board of Governors, and the Nuclear Suppliers Group(NSG). Both groups have the authority to block the US : India deal. ICAN wrote to Foreign Minister Stephen Smith asking Australia to not support the safeguards agreement in the IAEA last Friday. Unfortunately Australia supported the deal in the IAEA, and has not given its position about the NSG. Act today to ask Australian Government to completely reject US: India deal. ICAN is also part of a joint NGO sign-on letter which has gathered 31 signatures so far- can your organisation sign? Read Letter
