The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) urgently needs your support to achieve our goal.

There are more than 16,000 nuclear weapons in the world today, posing a grave danger to all humanity. Just one nuclear weapon is enough to destroy an entire city in a flash. So long as nuclear weapons exist, there is a real risk they will be used, whether intentionally or by accident. Any use would have catastrophic human consequences.

The good news is we are making progress towards their complete elimination. At the height of the Cold War, there were close to 70,000 nuclear weapons in the world. Three in four governments are now calling for negotiations on a global treaty banning nuclear weapons. Please help us to make it a reality.

“The world is over-armed and peace is under-funded. I salute the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons for working with such commitment and creativity in pursuit of our shared goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world.”

– Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General
