Democratic Republic of the Congo

DR Congo is a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has signed but not yet ratified the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

DRC did have a uranium mine in Shinkolobwe, in the southeast, but this has been officially closed since 1960 due to the high costs of exploration. The international community has expressed concern that there are still illegal mining operations underway there.

DR Congo has signed but not yet ratified the African Nuclear Weapons Free Zone (Treaty of Pelindaba).
