Write a letter to your UN ambassador

There's a new window of opportunity to abolish nuclear weapons, and we need your help to make sure it doesn't go away. This May key decision makers representing 189 countries — almost every country in the world — will gather in New York for a major month-long review of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Together, we have the power to influence the outcome.

Please help us to convince your government that it's time to negotiate a Nuclear Weapons Convention — a treaty outlawing nuclear weapons and providing for their elimination. We believe this is the best way to implement the NPT's disarmament and non-proliferation obligations, and realize the decades-old promise of a nuclear-weapon-free world.

Here's what we need you to do now, and ask your friends to do the same: use the form below to write a letter to your country's United Nations ambassador, urging him or her to get behind the growing push for a Nuclear Weapons Convention. You don't need to be a policy expert — just a citizen who cares about the future of the planet!

We will print your letter and hand-deliver it to your ambassador in New York. Any response will be sent direct to you using the address you provide.

Your letter should:

  • Call on your UN ambassador to support the commencement of negotiations for a legally binding, verifiable Nuclear Weapons Convention
  • Emphasize that the upcoming Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference in an important chance to make progress towards nuclear abolition
  • Explain that you're a national of the ambassador's country and you passionately support the elimination of all nuclear weapons

The letter will be delivered to the UN ambassador of this country.
